Use this video and worksheet as a simple warm-up for English language students learning about prepositions.

Print out the worksheet and pass it out to your students.

Play the video and let students listen at least once. If necessary, they can listen twice. They need to fill in the gaps with in, on, around, and under. The video is about two and a half minutes. If you play it twice, then this will be a 5 minute warmer.

When everyone has finished, take a few minutes to check students’ answers. The answers to the worksheet are here. If students are confused about any of the answers, then you can explain it to them now.

Let students discuss the questions at the end of the video either in partners or by raising their hands and saying their answers out loud.

• What do you like to do in the park?
• Do you like to walk on the paths?
• Do you like to take in nature or soak up the sun?

And that’s it! This warm-up should take between 5 and 10 minutes and will lead nicely into a longer lesson about prepositions.
