Worksheet #3

A worksheet where students can mingle while also practicing their past simple. The aim is allowing students to practice the vocabulary they have learned while also providing an opportunity for students to speak to each other.

The teacher can first introduce the vocabulary they want the students to use. The worksheet provides an example. Students then go around the class interviewing one student and writing three sentences using the past simple. At the end of the activity, the students can draw a picture of the friends they have interviewed.

The teacher can print the first page for a short 20-minute activity or print out both pages, in which case, it would last 30-35 minutes.

Here is a worksheet which you can use for some general past simple practice. The first section practices question making. The second section practices re-ordering the sentences correctly. The final section has a story where students can complete the story using the correct past simple form of the verbs given.

After filling in the blanks, students will be asked to determine whether the following sentences are true or false. The sentences are all related to the story they have just read. Here is a worksheet where you can have your students explore different ways to practice the Past Simple tense. It starts by having to re-write the sentences in the negative form. Afterwards, they correct the mistakes in the sentences shown. Then, students must turn Present Simple sentences into Past Simple sentences. Here is a fun worksheet where students must work together. First students must draw a picture of whatever they want but tell your students that after they draw the picture, their partner will have to make sentences using the Past Simple tense.

After they finish that, there is an optional exercise on the next page where they can do the reverse. They can write 5 sentences and then their partner must draw a picture using the 5 sentences as the basis for the drawing. Good luck!
